ProFractional Laser™ - Tupelo, MS Specialist – Dr. Alan Pritchard

The Sciton ProFractional Laser™ helps patients achieve deep collagen remodeling and skin rejuvenation with a fraction of the downtime of traditional CO2 laser resurfacing treatments.

Is the ProFractional Laser Right for You?

Men and women with moderate to severe wrinkles and fine lines, acne and acne scars, sun damage, age spots and rough, uneven skin can enjoy significant anti-aging benefits with ProFractional Laser resurfacing. Most patients who seek this procedure experience more advanced skin aging that cannot be treated with more superficial laser treatments such as the Micro Laser Peel alone, however ProFractional Laser may be performed in combination with the Micro Laser Peel to maximize skin improvement. The ProFractional Laser is also frequently combined with non-surgical skin tightening treatment for more complete facial rejuvenation, including correction of mild jowls and loose skin.

ProFractional Laser Treatment

Before your ProFractional Laser treatment, Dr. Pritchard will evaluate your skin to determine the appropriate depth of treatment to achieve the results you desire. After cleansing the treatment area, which may include a portion of your face, such as around the eyes or mouth, the entire face, neck, chest, hands or any combination thereof, Dr. Pritchard may apply a numbing cream to ensure your ProFractional Laser treatment is comfortable.

The ProFractional Laser has customizable settings to ensure that the laser energy can be administered at a depth that will help you achieve the level of skin resurfacing you need, while minimizing downtime. Instead of removing a large area of the skin's surface, the ProFractional Laser vaporizes small channels of tissue to stimulate collagen growth but leaves surrounding skin entact to promote faster healing.

The ProFractional Laser is an Erbium YAG laser that delivers laser energy at a wavelength of 2940nm, making the ProFractional Laser more efficient and precise than other Erbium YAG and CO2 lasers used for skin resurfacing. This means the ProFractional Laser can provide you with maximum skin rejuvenation results with the shortest possible recovery period.

ProFractional Laser Side Effects

During the recovery period, which can range from 1-7 days for most patients, temporary redness and flaking are common. Dr. Pritchard will advise you on the appropriate skin care products to use during your ProFractional Laser treatment recovery period to minimize temporary side effects.

An incorrectly administered ProFractional Laser treatment can also result in side effects like long-term skin discoloration, which is why it is so important to see an experienced plastic surgeon and laser specialist for ProFractional Laser treatment.
